Privacy Policy

Short version: Aurorix collects only the data needed to provide the service. We do not sell your personal information to anyone. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.

1. Who We Are

Aurorix ("we", "us", or "our") is a mobile application for iOS and Android that helps users track vehicle fuel costs, maintenance records, and related expenses. The app is developed and operated independently.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories when you use Aurorix:

2.1 Account and Authentication Data

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password through Supabase Auth. You may also use the app as a guest without creating an account; in that case, no account data is stored.

2.2 Profile Data

If you choose to complete your profile, we store:

  • Display name or username
  • Profile picture (uploaded image stored in Supabase Storage)
  • Language and theme preferences
  • Preferred currency for cost display

2.3 Vehicle Data

To use the core features of the app, you provide vehicle information, which we store on our servers:

  • Vehicle make, model, and year
  • License plate (optional)
  • Current and historical odometer readings
  • Fuel type (gasoline, diesel, electric, hybrid, LPG)
  • Vehicle photo (optional, stored in Supabase Storage)

2.4 Fuel Logs

Each fuel fill-up entry you register includes:

  • Date of fill-up
  • Odometer reading at the time of fill-up
  • Liters (or gallons) added
  • Total cost and price per liter
  • Gas station association (if selected)
  • Optional notes

2.5 Maintenance Records

Maintenance entries you create include:

  • Service type (e.g., oil change, tire rotation)
  • Date and odometer reading at service
  • Cost
  • Service provider or workshop name (optional)
  • Repeat intervals for reminders (by distance or months)
  • Optional notes

2.6 Gas Station Data

When you register or search for gas stations, we may collect:

  • Station name and address
  • Fuel prices you report at a given station
  • GPS coordinates of stations you add

2.7 Vehicle Sharing Data

If you share a vehicle with another user, we store the association between your account and the other user's account, identified by username.

2.8 Location Data

When you use the "Nearby Stations" feature, the app requests access to your device's GPS location (location while using the app only). This location is used to display nearby gas stations on the map and is not stored on our servers. You may deny location permission without affecting other features of the app.

Location data is processed by the Google Places API and Google Maps SDK to search and display station results. This processing is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

2.9 Usage Analytics

We use Vexo Analytics, a third-party SDK, to collect anonymized usage data such as:

  • Screen views and navigation events
  • Feature interaction events (e.g., fuel log submitted, maintenance saved)
  • App session duration
  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version

Vexo Analytics does not collect personally identifiable information on its own. Event data is associated with an anonymous device identifier, not your email or name. For details, see Vexo's Privacy Policy.

2.10 Automatically Collected Technical Data

Like most apps, Aurorix and its infrastructure (Supabase) may automatically collect:

  • IP address (used for security and fraud prevention by Supabase Auth)
  • Timestamps of API requests
  • App crash reports (if you opt in via device settings)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing the service: Storing and syncing your vehicles, fuel logs, and maintenance records across your devices.
  • Authentication: Verifying your identity when you sign in.
  • Reminders: Calculating when maintenance services are due based on your intervals and odometer data.
  • Analytics: Understanding which features are most used so we can improve the product. We never use analytics data for advertising.
  • Vehicle sharing: Enabling co-owners or family members you invite to view and add records to a shared vehicle.
  • Customer support: Responding to questions or issues you report to us.

We do not use your data for:

  • Targeted advertising
  • Selling or renting your data to any third party
  • Building profiles for marketing purposes

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Processors

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with the following service providers ("data processors") who are contractually bound to protect it:

Supabase (supabase.com)

Supabase acts as our cloud database, authentication provider, and file storage. All your account, vehicle, fuel, and maintenance data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II compliant and processes data under a Data Processing Agreement. Learn more at supabase.com/privacy.

Google (Maps & Places APIs)

When you use the nearby station search or map feature, your device location and search queries are sent to Google's servers to retrieve results. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Vexo Analytics

Anonymized usage event data is sent to Vexo. No personally identifiable data (name, email) is included in analytics events. See Vexo's Privacy Policy.

Apple / Google (App Distribution)

Downloading the app through the App Store or Google Play is subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.

We may also disclose your data if required by applicable law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Aurorix, its users, or the public.

5. Data Storage and Security

All user data is stored in Supabase's managed PostgreSQL infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS). Supabase Auth uses industry-standard bcrypt hashing for passwords.

Vehicle photos and profile images are stored in Supabase Storage, served over HTTPS.

While we take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, no system is completely immune to breaches. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account (see Section 7), all data associated with your account is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

Anonymized analytics events collected by Vexo may be retained independently per Vexo's data retention policy, as they are not linked to your account.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data. You can do this directly in the app through your Profile settings, or by contacting us at developer@aurorixapp.com.
  • Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent: Revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Aurorix is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at developer@aurorixapp.com and we will delete that information promptly.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell.
  • The right to delete your personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

10. International Data Transfers

Aurorix operates globally. Your data is stored on Supabase servers which may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

The app may display map content from Google Maps. These services have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or data practices. We encourage you to review their policies:

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will notify registered users by email or through an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
